Return follow-up

Lost something after returning an MIA rental car?

The fastest recovery path depends on where you last had the item. Use this Miami-specific routing guide before sending the same request to every department.

Left inside the rental car

Contact the rental agency and return location on your agreement. Include the return time, vehicle class or plate, reservation number, and a precise description.

Left at the Rental Car Center or shuttle

Start with the rental agency for vehicle or counter items, then use MIA's official Lost and Found instructions for airport transportation or public-area items.

Left in a terminal, parking, drive area, or security location

Use MIA's official claim path. The last known location determines whether MIA, TSA, an airline, or a concession operator owns the next step.

Left on the aircraft

Contact the airline directly rather than the rental counter. Keep the flight number, terminal, gate, seat, and baggage details ready.

Official path

Start with the department that handled the location.

MIA-specific note

MIA separates airport terminal, garage, drive-area, aircraft, TSA, and Rental Car Center paths. Items left in a rental vehicle or at the Rental Car Center should start with the rental agency; use MIA's official claim system for airport-controlled locations.
